In Scotland, there are currently a few government grants available for installing electric vehicle (EV) chargers, although some have recently closed or changed.

Here’s an overview of the options: Energy Saving Trust (EST) Domestic Chargepoint Funding: This grant offers up to £400 towards the cost of purchasing and installing a home EV charger. It is specifically available to:

• Rural EV owners: Residents living in remote or rural areas of Scotland.
• Used EV owners: Residents who purchased their EV through the Scottish Government’s Used Electric Vehicle Loan scheme.

The grant closed to new applications as of February 2024, but there might be potential for it to reopen in the future.

OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant: This UK-wide grant, available in Scotland, provides up to £350 towards the installation of an EV charger. However, it is now mostly available to flat owners, renters, and those living in certain types of properties like apartment blocks. Homeowners in single-unit properties like detached or semi-detached houses are no longer eligible.

Unfortunately, the previously available grants, like the EST's broader Domestic Chargepoint Funding, are no longer accessible to new applicants. However, it's worth keeping an eye on these programs, as they may reopen or new funding opportunities may emerge.
