Plenty of local sites say "NICEIC approved". Far fewer publish the enrolment number that lets you confirm it. If a company will not give you theirs, ask why before they touch your consumer unit.

Scotland, not England

The rules here are different, and most national sites get them wrong.

If a site tells you your Peterhead rewire needs signing off under Part P, close the tab. Part P does not apply in Scotland. It is an England and Wales building regulation. Work here sits under the Scottish building standards, and notifiable work goes through a building warrant from Aberdeenshire Council.

  • Certificates that actually get accepted. Our installation certificates and EICRs are accepted by Aberdeenshire Council, by lender solicitors during a sale, and by insurers. A certificate is only worth what the person reading it will accept.
  • Landlords need a current EICR. Private rented property in Scotland requires an electrical safety inspection at least every five years, plus a PAT check on landlord supplied appliances.
  • BS 7671 moved on in 2026. Amendment 4:2026 was published on 15 April 2026 and the previous version is withdrawn on 15 October 2026. From then every new certificate must be issued against Amendment 4. We are certifying to it now rather than waiting.
  • Building warrants, and no Part P. A full rewire, a new circuit into an extension, or work in a bathroom may need a warrant. We tell you at survey whether yours does, and we do not invent one that is not needed.

A certificate referencing the wrong jurisdiction is worth very little to a solicitor during a sale, and it is the quickest way to spot an installer working from an English template.

Who turns up

Steven Watt, and why you are not getting a subcontractor.

Faithful Spark is Steven Watt. He started as a Royal Navy apprentice in 2001, founded the business in 2023, and incorporated Faithful Spark Electricians Ltd on 29 August 2024. When you book a job, Steven is the person who surveys it, does it, and signs the certificate.

That matters more than it sounds. A lot of what ranks locally is lead generation sites that sell your enquiry on to whoever is nearest and available. You never learn who is coming, what they hold, or who carries the insurance. Here you know all three before you book, and the qualifications above are his, not a company's general claim.

Areas we cover

Based in Peterhead, working daily across the North East.

17 Thomson Road, Peterhead AB42 3FJ. Every area below has its own page with local pricing and detail.

Every postcode in Peterhead, and the villages around it

No postcode based travel surcharge anywhere in the town or the surrounding villages.

  • Peterhead town centre and the harbour area
  • Buchanhaven, Roanheads and Almanythie
  • Boddam and the southern villages
  • Inverugie and the rural fringe
  • Crimond, St Fergus and the surrounding parishes
  • The northern coast toward Rattray Head

Most addresses within an hour of Peterhead are covered with no surcharge. Beyond that, in remote rural Aberdeenshire, a small travel charge may apply and it is confirmed at booking, never added afterwards.

We know the property stock here

Peterhead is not one housing type and the electrical work reflects that. Older granite housing in the town centre, post war estates, the newer build expansion on the edges, the HMO and short term let sector serving the fishing and offshore workforce, and the rural fringe beyond. Each throws up different work.

That matters when you are quoting. A rewire in a granite terrace is a different job from a rewire on a 1990s estate, and an EICR on an HMO is a different job again. We are a local Aberdeenshire team rather than a national contractor visiting from elsewhere, so we are pricing from what we have already seen in these properties.

Who is the best electrician in Peterhead?

We would obviously say us, so judge it on something checkable instead. How much does an electrician cost in Peterhead?

A domestic EICR starts at £150 + VAT and is priced by circuit rather than bedroom count. A consumer unit upgrade is £550 to £950 + VAT. A three bedroom rewire is £5,000 to £10,000 + VAT. Fault finding is £80 to £150 + VAT for the first hour, the standard hourly rate is £55 to £75 + VAT, and emergency call outs are £150 to £250 + VAT including the first hour.

Are you NICEIC approved?

Do you carry out landlord EICRs?

Yes. Private rented property in Scotland needs an electrical safety inspection at least every five years, plus a PAT check on landlord supplied appliances. We price by circuit, so a one bed flat is not charged like a farmhouse, and reports are issued digitally the same week.

Does Part P apply to electrical work in Scotland?

No. Part P is an England and Wales building regulation and has never applied in Scotland. Electrical work here falls under the Scottish building standards, and notifiable work is handled through a building warrant from Aberdeenshire Council. If a company's website tells you your Scottish job needs Part P sign off, they are working from an English template.

What is changing with BS 7671 in 2026?

Amendment 4:2026 was published on 15 April 2026 and the previous version is withdrawn on 15 October 2026. After that date every new electrical certificate has to be issued against Amendment 4. We are already certifying to it. If you are having work done late in 2026, ask which version your certificate will reference.

Do you offer emergency call outs?

Yes, for existing and new customers across Peterhead, Ellon, Fraserburgh and Aberdeen. Emergency call outs are £150 to £250 + VAT including the first hour. Office hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm, with emergency cover outside those hours.

Are you fully insured?

Yes, £2M public liability in force on every job, covering domestic, commercial, landlord and industrial work. The certificate is available on request before work starts rather than after something goes wrong.

Do you install EV chargers and handle the grant?

Yes. We are an OZEV authorised installer, reference EVHS/WCS14254. Since 1 April 2026 the chargepoint grant is up to £500 per socket at 75% of cost, funded to 31 March 2027, for renters, flat owners and leaseholders with private off street parking. Owner occupiers with a driveway have not been eligible since 2022. We apply on your behalf where you qualify.
