Scotland, not England
Scotland has its own electrical rules
Part P does not apply in Scotland. It is an England and Wales building regulation. Work here sits under the Scottish building standards, and work that needs a building warrant gets one from the local council: Aberdeenshire Council here in Peterhead, Aberdeen City Council in the city. Any website saying a Peterhead rewire needs Part P sign off was written for England, because Part P does not apply in Scotland.
- Landlords need a current EICR. Private rented property in Scotland needs an electrical safety inspection at least every five years, plus a PAT check on landlord supplied appliances.
- BS 7671 moved on in 2026. Amendment 4:2026 was published on 15 April 2026 and the previous version was withdrawn on 15 October 2026, so every new certificate is issued against Amendment 4.
- EICR codes changed with it. On an Amendment 4 report only C1 and C2 make the result unsatisfactory. C3 and FI are advisory, although an FI still deserves prompt investigation, especially in a rented home. Here is what to do if your EICR comes back unsatisfactory.
- Building warrants. A full rewire in a flat, a new circuit into an extension, or work in a building of three storeys or more may need a warrant. We tell you at survey whether yours does.
- Doing it yourself. Scotland's position on DIY electrical work is not the same as England's. Read can you do your own electrical work in Scotland before you start.

Faithful Spark Electricians is run by Steven Watt. He started as a Royal Navy apprentice in 2001, founded the business in 2023, and incorporated Faithful Spark Electricians Ltd on 29 August 2024. Does Part P apply to electrical work in Scotland?
No. Part P is an England and Wales building regulation and has never applied in Scotland. Electrical work here falls under the Scottish building standards, and work that needs a building warrant gets one from the local council.
What changed with BS 7671 in 2026?
Amendment 4:2026 was published on 15 April 2026 and the previous version was withdrawn on 15 October 2026, so every new electrical certificate is now issued against Amendment 4. It also changed EICR reporting: only C1 and C2 make a report unsatisfactory, while C3 and FI are advisory. We explain each code in plain English and quote any remedial work separately.
Do you offer emergency call outs?
Yes, for existing and new customers across Peterhead, Ellon, Fraserburgh and Aberdeen. Emergency call outs are £150 to £250 + VAT including the first hour. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm, and closed on Sunday. For a genuine safety concern, call 07304 027013 and we aim to attend the same day within those hours.
Are you fully insured?
Yes, £2M public liability in force on every job, covering domestic, commercial, landlord and industrial work. The certificate is available on request before work starts.
Do you install EV chargers and handle the grant?
Yes. We are an OZEV authorised installer, reference EVHS/WCS14254, and a Tesla approved and Evec approved installer for EV chargers. Since 1 April 2026 the chargepoint grant is up to £500 per socket at 75% of cost, funded to 31 March 2027, for renters, flat owners and leaseholders with private off street parking. Owner occupiers with a driveway have not been eligible since 2022. You apply online first, and once your eligibility is confirmed we claim the grant for you as your installer.
