1920s & 1930s Semis & Bungalows
The interwar heart of Mannofield. Granite and rendered semis and bungalows now 90 years old, often with the oldest wiring in the area, sometimes still rubber insulated. Prime candidates for a rewire and a new board.
Faithful Spark Electricians look after Mannofield's 1920s and 1930s semis, the granite and rendered villas and the post war family homes off Great Western Road and Cranford Road. Rewires, fuseboard upgrades, EICRs and EV chargers for homes with their own driveways, every job led personally by Steven Watt.
Mannofield sits about two miles south west of the city centre, an established and sought after part of Aberdeen's west end off Great Western Road. Unlike the granite tenements of Rosemount and the inner West End, Mannofield is a suburb of family homes, the 1920s and 1930s semis and bungalows, the granite and rendered villas, and the post war houses that followed, almost all on their own plots with driveways and gardens. Landmarks like Mannofield Parish Church and the cricket ground at Mannofield Park give the area its settled character. The catch is age. Many of these homes are 70 to 90 years old, so the original wiring and first consumer units are well past their prime. Steven Watt leads every Mannofield job himself.

Steven Watt's City and Guilds awards, held on top of our NICEIC approved contractor status. Real qualifications, not decoration.
Mannofield is mostly interwar and post war family housing rather than tenement flats, and the build date tells us what is behind the wall. Knowing the era changes how we approach the work.
The interwar heart of Mannofield. Granite and rendered semis and bungalows now 90 years old, often with the oldest wiring in the area, sometimes still rubber insulated. Prime candidates for a rewire and a new board.
The detached and semi homes built through the 1950s and 1960s. Usually on split load boards with a couple of RCDs, where one fault still takes out half the house, and short of sockets for modern living.
The bigger granite villas and the family homes that have grown with kitchen and loft extensions. More circuits, more demand, and often a board that has run out of ways for the next addition.
Homes being brought up to date for a new family. EV chargers on the driveway, smart wiring, extra sockets and proper outdoor lighting for the gardens Mannofield is known for.
From a 90 year old rewire on a Cranford Road bungalow to a smart charger on a Great Western Road driveway, here is where most Mannofield calls land.
Full and partial rewires for interwar and post war homes, plus extra sockets and dedicated circuits for kitchens, showers and home offices.
Full RCBO boards replacing tired interwar and mid century units. Every circuit individually protected, no whole house blackouts.
Condition reports for homeowners and the Mannofield rental market, Repairing Standard compliant, clear C1 to C3 coding.
Smart, solar ready home chargers for the off street driveways that come as standard across Mannofield.
LED downlights, outdoor and security lighting, and garden power for the larger Mannofield plots, all on RCD protected circuits.
Tripping RCDs, dead sockets and flickering lights in older homes, with the price agreed before we start.
Interwar and post war homes need a measured hand, so we plan the work, protect the house, and document everything from the first call to the final certificate.
Call 07304 027013, WhatsApp or email. Tell us the street, the age of the home, and what is happening, from a tripping board to a planned rewire.
Smaller jobs we can price on the call. For a rewire, fuseboard upgrade or EV charger we attend and quote in writing, so you know the figure before any work starts.
No subcontracted strangers turning up. Every job is carried out to BS 7671 (18th Edition) and the Scottish building standards, with care for an occupied family home.
Every circuit tested, every offcut taken away. Your certificate is issued digitally the same day where possible, carrying our NICEIC registration number.
Most local firms make you ring for every number. Here is where Mannofield jobs usually sit. Every figure is a guide, and the final quote is always confirmed in writing first.

Call 07304 027013The interwar and post war homes that make up Mannofield were wired to the standards of their day, and a great many still run on old rewirable or early plastic boards with little or no RCD protection. After 70 or 90 years that is a fair innings. The first sign is usually nuisance tripping, a board with no test button, or a home that blacks out fully when one appliance faults.
We only fit full RCBO consumer units, never split load boards. With a full RCBO board, every circuit gets its own combined breaker and earth fault protection, so if a single appliance faults, only that circuit drops and the rest of the house stays live.
A 100A domestic board upgrade in Mannofield is from £550, with a guide up to £950 + VAT depending on circuit count. Not sure if yours is due? Our guide on whether a consumer unit upgrade in Aberdeen is worth it is a useful read.

The oldest Mannofield homes were wired well before electric showers, induction hobs, home offices and double ovens, and the very oldest may still carry brittle rubber insulated cable that is genuinely at the end of its life. Where that is the case, a rewire is the honest answer rather than patching fault after fault. We work carefully in an occupied family home, plan the routes, and make good neatly afterwards.
Not every Mannofield home needs a full rewire though, and we will tell you straight. Often a partial rewire of one floor plus a new board is the sensible step.
A full rewire in Mannofield typically falls between £3,500 and £14,000+ + VAT depending on the size of the home. See our main rewiring in Aberdeen page for how we approach older homes.
An Electrical Installation Condition Report is the proper way to find out what the wiring in a Mannofield home is actually doing, and in homes that have been altered over many decades it often turns up surprises. For homeowners it is a sensible check before a renovation, before buying, or at the point of sale. For Mannofield's landlords it is a legal duty, with a satisfactory EICR needed at least every five years under Scotland's Repairing Standard.
We test every circuit, then grade what we find. A C1 means danger present, a C2 means potentially dangerous, and a C3 is an improvement recommendation. Any C1, C2 or FI makes the report unsatisfactory. The inspection is carried out and signed by Steven Watt, who holds the City and Guilds 2391-52 inspection and testing qualification, and you get a clear digital certificate with a plain English explanation.
EICRs in Mannofield start from £150 + VAT for the main board and first five circuits, with typical family homes around £255 to £375 + VAT. See our main EICR in Aberdeen page for the detail.

Mannofield is close to ideal for home charging. Almost every home here has its own driveway, which is exactly what makes a tidy, compliant install straightforward, unlike the tenement streets closer to the city centre. Every charger we fit is smart, as the law requires, and solar ready, so it can charge from your own panels when you add them.
Installs start from £900 + VAT for a 7.4kW smart unit with a cable run up to 15 metres. Runs over 15 metres, a consumer unit upgrade or an earthing upgrade are quoted honestly after the survey. Steven Watt holds the City and Guilds 2921-34 EV charging award. See our wider EV charger installation service for more.

Plenty of Mannofield calls are not big projects at all. They are the everyday improvements that make a family home safer and easier to live in, and the garden work that suits the larger plots this suburb is known for.
If it is electrical and it is in Mannofield, it is worth a call. We will tell you honestly whether it is a quick fix or something larger, and price it before we start.
The work we sign off in Mannofield is backed by Steven Watt's individual City and Guilds qualifications, held on top of our NICEIC approved contractor status and SELECT membership. NICEIC and SELECT are scheme memberships. City and Guilds are personal awards. They are not the same thing, and we are happy to show both.

Possibly, but not always. Wiring of that age can be brittle and short on sockets, and the very oldest may still be rubber insulated, but the honest way to know is an EICR. From that we advise whether a full rewire, a partial rewire of one floor, or simply a new fuseboard is the right step. We never push a rewire that is not needed. A full rewire in Mannofield runs from £3,500 to £14,000+ + VAT depending on size.
Mannofield is in the Aberdeen City council area, postcode AB15, about two miles south west of the city centre off Great Western Road. For anything official, such as a landlord EICR, the authority is Aberdeen City Council.
Mannofield is a suburb of family homes with their own driveways and gardens, mostly interwar and post war semis, bungalows and villas. The West End and Rosemount page covers the granite tenement flats and the grand listed villas closer to the city. The work overlaps, but the property types and the typical jobs are different, so we keep a dedicated page for each.
Almost certainly. Nearly every Mannofield home has off street parking, which makes a tidy, compliant install straightforward. We carry out a free survey, confirm the supply and cable route, handle the DNO notification if it is needed, and fit a smart, solar ready 7.4kW charger from £900 + VAT.
Yes. Under Scotland's Repairing Standard, every privately rented home must have a satisfactory EICR at least every five years, and Aberdeen City Council can ask to see it. The inspection is signed by Steven Watt, who holds the City and Guilds 2391-52 qualification, and you get a clear digital certificate. EICRs in Mannofield start from £150 + VAT.
Steven Watt leads every Mannofield job personally, supported by a small qualified team. You deal with the same NICEIC approved electrician from the first quote to the final certificate, not a rotating set of subcontractors.
