Aberdeenshire towns and villages we cover

North Aberdeen and the airport
Electrician in Bridge of Don
AB22, AB23The biggest suburb on the north side, mostly built from the 1970s in render and brick, with Grandhome growing on its edge.
Farmland until 1984: the Fairview streets came first, then Wallacebrae and Jesmond through the late 1980s and 1990s.
Two places on one postcode: the village around Victoria Street, and Kirkhill and the business parks by the airport.
Grew as a mill village beside Stoneywood; now older streets off Inverurie Road, the Craibstone estates and Bankhead units.
Laid out as city council housing from the late 1940s; many homes were bought under Right to Buy and some are now let.
South Aberdeen and the Dee

AB11, AB10Granite tenements off one shared stair on both banks of the Dee, plus the three storey terraces of Fonthill Road.
A garden estate from a 1936 design, built after the war below Kincorth Hill, and newer homes toward the Loch of Loirston.
An old fishing village around its 1878 harbour, 1970s semis, and estates either side of Wellington Road since 2000.
West End and west Aberdeen

City or shire
Which council covers your address, and why it matters for electrical work
Two councils split the area we work in. The one that matters is the one that would issue a building warrant, and the postal address does not always tell you.
Aberdeen City Council
The whole city and every suburb in our Aberdeen list, including the Deeside villages that feel rural: Cults, Bieldside, Milltimber and Peterculter. Kingswells and Countesswells are city too.
Aberdeenshire Council
Peterhead, Fraserburgh, Ellon, Mintlaw, Cruden Bay, Oldmeldrum and Westhill. Maryculter, Portlethen, Balmedie and Newmachar also fall here, even though their addresses carry an Aberdeen post town.
The two boundaries people get wrong
Maryculter sits across the Dee from Peterculter but is in the shire, while Peterculter is in the city. Westhill is the shire, yet Kingswells, one stop closer along the A944, is the city.
When a warrant is needed
Not to rewire or add circuits in a house of up to two storeys. A building warrant is needed for new wiring in a flat or maisonette, and in a building of three storeys or more, and getting it is the owner's duty. Part P is an England and Wales rule and does not apply in Scotland.

Is there a travel charge?
Most addresses within an hour of Peterhead carry no surcharge. In remote rural Aberdeenshire a small travel charge may apply, and it is confirmed at booking, never added afterwards.
