Rewires for Older Estates
Full and partial rewires for the original 1968 to 1979 Westhill stock, bringing tired circuits up to 18th Edition standard.
Faithful Spark Electricians are local to AB32, not an Aberdeen city firm tacking your postcode on the end. We look after the 1960s and 1970s estates that need rewires and fuseboards, the new build at Burnland Meadows, and genuine office and commercial work for the Westhill and Arnhall business parks. Every job led personally by Steven Watt.
Westhill sits about seven miles west of Aberdeen along the A944, and it is firmly in Aberdeenshire, the old Gordon district, not Aberdeen City. It is a planned town in the truest sense. Drawn up in 1963, the first houses went up in 1968, and North Sea oil and gas pushed the population past ten thousand by the mid 1980s. That history is written into the wiring. The earliest estates are now well past fifty years old, while Elrick, the older settlement the town absorbed, and the new build at Burnland Meadows sit alongside them. Add the subsea engineering parks at Arnhall and Westhill, and you get a genuine spread of home and business electrical work. Steven Watt leads every Westhill job himself.

Steven Watt's City and Guilds awards, held on top of our NICEIC approved contractor status. Real qualifications, not decoration.
Westhill did not grow slowly the way a granite village did. It arrived in waves. The first houses of 1968, the oil boom estates of the 1970s, the heavy 1980s to 2000s expansion, and then the ongoing new build at Burnland Meadows. Each wave carried the wiring standard of its day, and that is exactly why the year a house was built matters before anyone lifts a floorboard.
The earliest estates, now beyond fifty years old, often still run on a rewirable fuse board, undersized earthing, and lighting circuits that were never designed for today's loads. These are the homes most likely to need a full or partial rewire and a modern consumer unit. The 1980s and 1990s stock is usually sound but ready for a fuseboard upgrade to a full RCBO board with proper individual protection. The newest homes rarely need rewiring at all, just extra circuits, an EV charger, or a garden socket.
We carry out work to BS 7671, the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, and where the job is notifiable under Scottish Building Regulations we handle that paperwork for you. There is no Part P in Scotland. That route runs through the local authority Building Standards department, and it is part of the job, not an extra on the bill.
The original estates. Prime candidates for rewires, earthing upgrades and consumer unit replacement.
The big expansion. Sound wiring, often ready for a full RCBO fuseboard and extra circuits.
Burnland Meadows and similar. EV chargers, garden sockets, smart wiring and added circuits.
From a fuseboard swap in a 1970s semi to fixed wire testing for an Arnhall office, this is the everyday work, all certified to BS 7671.
Full and partial rewires for the original 1968 to 1979 Westhill stock, bringing tired circuits up to 18th Edition standard.
Full RCBO consumer units only, no split load boards. Every circuit gets its own protection so one fault never blacks out the house.
Smart, solar ready 7.4kW home chargers for the modern estates and Burnland Meadows driveways. Business car parks too.
Fixed wire testing, emergency lighting to BS 5266, LED retrofit and fit out work for the Westhill and Arnhall business parks.
Repairing Standard EICRs for Westhill landlords and condition reports for owners, with clear C1 to C3 coding.
LED downlights, outdoor and security lighting, extra sockets, and tracing the cause when a breaker keeps tripping.
Westhill is not just a commuter town with houses to wire. It is one of the world's centres for subsea and underwater engineering, often called the Subsea Capital. Subsea 7 sit on Prospect Road in Arnhall Business Park, TechnipFMC are on Enterprise Drive in the Westhill Industrial Estate, and occupiers like TotalEnergies and Scottish Water share the parks. That means genuine office, workshop and commercial electrical demand on the doorstep, the sort of work most local rivals never press.
We handle the commercial side properly, scheduled around your trading and your shift patterns:
Steven Watt began his career as a Royal Navy Engineering Apprentice in 2001, and that commercial grade discipline carries into every office and workshop job we sign off in Westhill.

Most Westhill households are out at work through the day. With roughly fifty eight percent of the town of working age and a heavy energy sector commuter demographic, a nine to five only electrician is no use to a family who both leave for Aberdeen each morning. We keep evening and weekend slots open so you are not forced to burn a day of annual leave to get a fuseboard swapped or an EICR done.
Need a slot that fits around the commute? Call 07304 027013 and we will find a time that suits the household, not just us.
Westhill mixes detached, semi, terraced, bungalow and retirement homes. Knowing which wave a home came from changes how we approach it.
The first waves of the planned town. Often rewirable fuse boards and dated earthing. Rewires, consumer unit upgrades and EICRs are the common need.
The bulk of Westhill's growth. Usually sound wiring, ready for a full RCBO fuseboard, extra sockets, lighting upgrades and a home EV charger.
CALA's Burnland Meadows and the modern plots. Rarely need rewiring. Demand is EV chargers, garden sockets, smart wiring and added circuits.
The older Elrick settlement and the town's bungalow and retirement homes. Careful, considerate work and accessible socket and lighting upgrades.

Westhill is in Aberdeenshire, historically the Gordon district, not Aberdeen City. It sits about seven miles west of the city centre on the A944, with the AB32 postcode. We are local to AB32 rather than an Aberdeen city firm adding your postcode to a list, which matters for knowing the local housing stock and getting to you quickly.
Quite possibly. The earliest Westhill estates from 1968 to the 1970s are now beyond fifty years old, and many still run on a rewirable fuse board with dated earthing and lighting circuits never designed for today's loads. A rewire is not always needed, sometimes a fuseboard upgrade and an EICR is enough. We assess first and tell you honestly which one your home actually needs.
Yes. Westhill is a subsea and engineering hub with real commercial demand, and we cover it. That includes fixed wire testing, emergency lighting to BS 5266, LED retrofit, office fit outs and commercial EV charging for the units across Arnhall Business Park and the Westhill Industrial Estate. We schedule the work around your trading and shift patterns.
Yes. The modern Westhill estates and the new build at Burnland Meadows are ideal for a home charger. Every unit we fit is smart, as the law requires, and solar ready so it can charge from your own panels if you add them later. A 7.4kW smart home charger starts from £900 + VAT after a free survey. Cable runs beyond 15 metres or a consumer unit upgrade are quoted as extras.
Yes. Westhill is heavily a commuter town and we keep evening and weekend slots open so you do not have to take a day off work to get an EICR, a fuseboard swap or a fault sorted. Just ask when you call and we will find a time that fits the household.
Yes. Under Scotland's Repairing Standard, every privately rented property must have a satisfactory Electrical Installation Condition Report at least every 5 years, and the inspector must hold the inspection and testing qualification. Steven holds City and Guilds 2391-52. A Westhill landlord EICR is £150 to £350 + VAT depending on the size of the property, with a digital certificate and clear C1 to C3 coding.
Call Steven directly on 07304 027013, message us on WhatsApp, or use the form for a free, no obligation written quote. Planning an EV charger? Our Westhill EV charger page covers it, and our Westhill EICR page covers landlord testing. New build owners can also read our guide to EV chargers for new builds in Aberdeenshire.
