Fixed wire testing, the certificate your business must keep current.
Fixed wire testing is the commercial equivalent of a domestic EICR, a periodic inspection and test of the fixed electrical installation in your premises against BS 7671. It is what proves your electrics are safe and maintained, and it is driven by the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, which put a duty on the employer or duty holder to keep the installation in a safe condition.
The recommended maximum intervals are broadly every five years for most commercial premises such as offices, shops and hotels, and every three years for industrial premises and factories, with wet or harsh environments often needing annual testing. The important caveat is that your insurer and your lease frequently ask for shorter intervals than that, so it is always worth checking the policy and the lease rather than assuming the maximum.
We test single phase and three phase installations, price per circuit from £300 + VAT for a small office, and issue the certificate you need for your insurer, landlord or lease. The full intervals and pricing are on our commercial EICR page.
