Two Oldmeldrums, one electrician who knows both.
Most firms that turn up for the term "electrician Oldmeldrum" are based in Peterhead, Ellon or Aberdeen and run the same page for a dozen towns with the postcode swapped in. What they miss is that Oldmeldrum is really two towns wired very differently, and the job depends on which one you live in.
The new build and commuter estates. Chapel Park, Coutens, the homes off Distillery Road and the 1980s to 2000s streets around them are full of households that commute to Aberdeen, helped now by the Park and Ride being brought forward for the town. These houses are sound, but they were rarely built with today's demands in mind. What they want is a driveway EV charger, more sockets for home working, a garden room or home office supply, smart lighting, and an EICR when the house is bought or sold in what is a busy Garioch market.
The granite town core and Victorian villas. Around the Square, Kirk Street and the older parts of town, the housing is stone and often decades past its last electrical work. Here the conversation is about tired fuse boards with no RCD protection, lighting circuits with no earth, and eventually a rewire done sympathetically so it does not tear a period home apart.
We work across both, and across the Formartine villages that look to Oldmeldrum, so you get an electrician who has actually seen the difference between a new plot on Meldrum Meg Way and a cottage on the Square.
