Grants go through authorised firms
OZEV only pays chargepoint grants through installers on its authorised list. Our reference is EVHS/WCS14254, so if you qualify, the grant is deducted from our invoice and we handle the claim.
We install smart 7.4kW home chargers on Dyce driveways from £900 + VAT, with the dedicated circuit, up to 15 metres of cable, SSEN notified and a certificate when we finish. Business units by the airport get workplace charge points too. The survey is free, the written price usually follows within one working day, and the fitting itself normally takes a few hours. Call 07304 027013.
For a Dyce house with its own parking, a fully installed smart charger costs £900 to £1,300 + VAT with Faithful Spark Electricians, depending on the model you choose and the cable route. We fit for owners, tenants, landlords and the firms on the estates around Aberdeen Airport, and the same team that surveys the job comes back to do it.
Dyce is part of the Aberdeen City Council area, on an AB21 postcode beside the airport and the River Don. We come in from our base at 17 Thomson Road, Peterhead, so there is no Dyce office to visit. If the visit should also cover a fault, new sockets or outside lights, our page for an electrician in Dyce sets out that work. The phones are staffed Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm on 07304 027013.
Our three home packages start at £900, £995 and £1,195 + VAT. The survey settles only the parts that change from house to house: the board, the earthing and how far the cable has to travel.
| What you get | Price | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Entry 7.4kW smart unit | from £900 + VAT | Standard surface mounted install on a single phase supply, cable run up to 15 metres |
| Smart package: Ohme Home Pro or TeltoCharge | from £995 + VAT | App scheduling and tariff control, 3 year warranty |
| Premium solar ready package: Hypervolt Home 3 Pro or myenergi Zappi | from £1,195 + VAT | Solar surplus charging, load management and voice control, 3 year warranty |
| New consumer unit fitted with the charger | £750 to £1,000 + VAT | Only when the existing board cannot safely carry the extra circuit |
| Workplace charge point, single unit | £800 to £1,500 + VAT | Business premises; depends on the distance from the board and the route across the site |
| Longer runs, ducting, earthing work | quoted after survey | Measured on site and listed as separate lines |
The Electric Vehicle (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021 mean every new home charger has to be smart, and every unit we offer is. They are also solar ready, so they can take spare power from panels you fit later. Our guide to EV charger installation cost in Scotland goes through each price factor in more depth.
Comparing online averages? A directory average mixes short garage installs with long, awkward ones. Ask each installer how many metres of cable the price allows, how the charger is earthed and who tells SSEN, so every quote covers the same job.
Dyce grew in stages, and the age of the street gives us a fair idea of the install before we arrive. We still walk the route at the survey before anything is priced.
Most of these homes have a driveway beside the house or an attached garage, so the charger mounts on a side wall or a pillar next to the garage door. When the board sits just inside, the run is short and the entry price usually stands.
The original village street has the oldest homes, where an early fuse board is more likely. We test the board first and tell you at the survey if it needs replacing, never on the day.
If a second electric car is likely, say so at the survey. We can plan the board and the supply so a second charger can go on later with load management, rather than reworking everything.
A home charger needs parking you own or have the right to use. Aberdeen City Council's EV charging FAQ currently says a charging cable cannot run across a public pavement, so check with the council first. Without a private space, the public sites listed further down are the realistic option.
What we do: mark the charger position and cable route with you, then put both in the written quote. Call 07304 027013 to arrange it.

Send us your AB21 postcode with three photos: the fuse board, the meter and the spot where you park. Often that is enough for a written figure before anyone visits.
Any competent electrician may legally fit one. In practice a charger brings extra rules and paperwork, and these three are the ones you will notice.

Section 722 of BS 7671 covers charging equipment, including earthing and DC fault protection. Steven Watt, who leads our team, holds City and Guilds 2921-34 in EV charging installation.
SSEN operates the network in the North East and needs to know about each new charger, and on some supplies it reviews the load first. We send the notification and pass on anything it asks.
NICEIC Approved Contractor 620239, TrustMark licence 4205123, OZEV authorised installer, and approved installer for Tesla and Evec EV chargers. Work is certified to BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 and covered by £2M public liability insurance.
Where is the 6mA DC detection? How is the charger protected if the supply neutral is lost? Who sends the SSEN notification? Put the same questions to us on 07304 027013.
Only when it cannot take a new circuit safely. A board with a free way and RCD protection can feed the charger as it is, or we add a small dedicated EV board beside the meter.
Rewireable fuses, no RCD at all, signs of heat or no room left all mean a new consumer unit first. Done on the same visit as the charger, the board work costs £750 to £1,000 + VAT. A board change on its own is covered on our consumer unit upgrade in Dyce page, and the full reasoning is in our guide: does your consumer unit need upgrading for an EV charger.
A Dyce homeowner with an electric car on order needed a new board before a charger could go on safely. We upgraded the consumer unit, wired the charger on its own circuit from it, and finished both in a single day with one certificate covering the lot. Read about the consumer unit and EV charger job we completed in Dyce.
Amendment 4 was published on 15 April 2026, and new circuits must be certified to it from 15 October 2026. Four points shape a charger install.
What we do: confirm your earthing at the survey and include the right protection in the fixed price. Not sure which supply you have? Call 07304 027013.

Dyce is as much a place of work as a place to live. Kirkhill Industrial Estate, the Aberdeen International Business Park on Dyce Drive and the other estates around the airport hold offices, warehouses and workshops with their own parking.
A single commercial charge point is £800 to £1,500 + VAT, set by how far it sits from the board and the route across the site. Several bays are priced after a survey.
With more than one bay, the chargers share the supply available instead of overloading the incoming main when everyone plugs in on arrival. SSEN may need to approve larger loads before connection.
OZEV gives eligible businesses, charities and public sector bodies up to £500 per socket, for up to 40 sockets across their sites, until 31 March 2027. As an authorised installer we can make the claim.
Running a site in Dyce? Our workplace EV charging page covers multi bay layouts, grant eligibility and three phase supplies. Shutdowns are planned with you in advance, inside our opening hours.

Start with how you pay for electricity, how far you drive and whether panels are on the cards. The brand comes after that.
Our Smart package. Both set charging around a cheaper overnight tariff from your phone, which suits early starts and shift patterns. The Ohme Home Pro also has its own display on the unit.
Our Premium package, for homes with solar panels now or later. Either one can push surplus daytime generation into the car instead of exporting it.
We are an approved installer for Tesla and Evec EV chargers, so either is fitted to the maker's own standard. We price these at the survey.
Undecided? Ring 07304 027013 with your car model and your tariff, and we will suggest a unit.
Yes for renters, flat owners, landlords and businesses; no for most people who own a house with a drive. Who you are matters, not the postcode.
The OZEV grant covers 75% of buying and installing a socket, up to £500, and runs until 31 March 2027. You need private off street parking and, where relevant, written permission from your landlord or freeholder. Eligibility is confirmed before installation, and the grant comes off our invoice.
Landlords can claim up to £500 per socket through a separate OZEV scheme, for up to 200 sockets across all their sites. If the let also needs its electrical inspection, book an EICR in Dyce for the same visit.
The household grant does not cover owner occupied houses, or new builds where a charger was required by law. Home Energy Scotland's charge point funding said "currently closed" when we checked, so we quote you the full price with no grant assumed.
OZEV has a cross pavement grant of up to £500 for homes with on street parking only. Aberdeen City Council's EV charging FAQ currently says a charging cable cannot run across a public pavement, so check with the council first. We do not fit chargers that depend on a lead over a footpath.
Dyce has rapid and standard public chargers within a short drive. They are useful for a top up, but for a car parked on your own drive every night, a home unit is the easier habit.
Zapmap lists one unit on Station Road, AB21 7EQ, with two 7kW Type 2 connectors on the ChargePlace Scotland network. That is standard speed, closer to a home charger than a rapid one.
Zapmap shows five devices at AB21 7HG on the MFG EV Power network, with CCS rated at 150kW and 300kW plus CHAdeMO at 50kW. This is the rapid option for a fast top up.
Listed on Zapmap as Dyce Park and Ride, AB21 9TT, on the EZO network: one rapid unit with CCS and CHAdeMO at 50kW and a 22kW Type 2, plus six units with two 7kW Type 2 connectors each.
Details from Zapmap's own listings, read on 6 October 2026. Each operator sets its own tariff and it can change, so check the app or the unit before you plug in; we do not publish public charging prices.
A 7.4kW home charger adds around 7kWh for every hour plugged in, so a night on an off peak rate covers a normal day's driving with room to spare. No queue for a bay, no waiting with the car, and no extra stop on the way home.
Day to day, charge to about 80% and try not to let the battery fall much below 20%, saving a full charge for long journeys. Batteries usually age more gently away from the extremes, and rapid charging slows down a lot in the final fifth. Some batteries are made to be filled to 100%, so the car maker's guidance wins. At handover we set your charge limit and schedule in the app or the car.
We cover the whole of Dyce, from the older streets near Victoria Street to the estates and business parks round the airport, and the neighbouring areas of Bucksburn, Stoneywood and Danestone. For chargers anywhere else in the city, see EV charger installation in Aberdeen.

With us, £900 to £1,300 + VAT for a smart 7.4kW charger at a Dyce home with off street parking. That price includes the unit, its own protected circuit, up to 15 metres of cable, the SSEN notification, testing and the certificate. The Smart package with an Ohme Home Pro or TeltoCharge is from £995 + VAT, the Premium package with a Hypervolt Home 3 Pro or myenergi Zappi is from £1,195 + VAT, and a new consumer unit fitted alongside costs £750 to £1,000 + VAT if the old one cannot take the circuit.
Yes, the law allows any competent electrician to do it, provided the work meets Section 722 of BS 7671. The differences show up elsewhere: only an OZEV authorised installer can claim a chargepoint grant for you, and under Amendment 4 an outdoor charger on a PME supply needs open PEN protection or an earth electrode as well as 6mA DC fault detection. We are OZEV authorised (EVHS/WCS14254) and NICEIC approved (620239), and Steven Watt, who leads our team, holds City and Guilds 2921-34 in EV charging installation.
If you rent your home or own a flat with private off street parking, yes: OZEV pays 75% of the cost of one socket, up to £500, until 31 March 2027, and approval comes before installation. Landlords can claim up to £500 per socket and businesses up to £500 per socket through the Workplace Charging Scheme. Owner occupiers of houses are not eligible, and Home Energy Scotland's charge point funding was showing as closed on 6 October 2026.
It is a guide for everyday charging: keep the battery between roughly 20% and 80%, and charge to 100% only before a long trip. Batteries tend to wear more slowly when they are not kept full or nearly empty, and rapid chargers slow right down above about 80%. Your car maker's advice comes first, because some batteries are designed to be charged to full.
Zapmap lists three nearby sites: a 7kW unit at Dyce Railway Station on Station Road, rapid chargers at MFG Dyce on Wellheads Road, and a mix of rapid and 7kW units at Craibstone Park and Ride, which Zapmap calls Dyce Park and Ride. Each operator sets its own prices, so check its app. For daily charging, a charger on your own drive is cheaper to run on an off peak tariff and saves the trip.
Yes. A single commercial charge point costs £800 to £1,500 + VAT, and sites with several bays are priced after a survey, with load management so the chargers share the supply. Eligible businesses, charities and public bodies can get up to £500 per socket from the OZEV Workplace Charging Scheme, for up to 40 sockets, and we make the claim as an authorised installer.
Not always. A board with a free way and RCD protection can usually supply the charger, sometimes through a small dedicated EV board next to the meter. Rewireable fuses, no RCD or no spare room mean a new consumer unit first, which costs £750 to £1,000 + VAT when fitted on the same visit. We did exactly that for a Dyce homeowner, board and charger in one day.
Normally a few hours on site, and the power is off only while the new circuit is connected. If the board has to be replaced as well, plan on a full day. Standard jobs are usually booked within 5 to 10 working days of accepting the quote, unless SSEN asks to review the supply first, which we would flag at the survey.
Only if you have a private space you own or have the right to use, such as an allocated bay or a garage. Aberdeen City Council's EV charging FAQ currently says a charging cable cannot run across a public pavement, so check with the council first. If you only have street parking, the public chargers at Dyce Railway Station, Wellheads Road and Craibstone Park and Ride are the practical choice for now.
Phone 07304 027013 or fill in the form with your street, where you park, where the fuse board is and what you drive. For a business, add how many bays you want. We will arrange the survey and send a fixed written price, usually within one working day.
