Our electricians charge £55 to £75 per hour + VAT during opening hours, and fault finding is £80 to £150 + VAT for the first hour. Most jobs, though, are priced as a fixed written quote after a free survey: a domestic EICR starts at £150 + VAT, a consumer unit upgrade at £550 + VAT and a smart EV charger at £900 + VAT. Every price below is before VAT, which is added at 20%. They are guide prices; your price is fixed in writing after the survey.

Work agreed in advance outside our opening hours is charged at £75 to £100 per hour + VAT. We are not an out of hours service: we are open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm, closed on Sunday, and any work outside those times is by prior agreement only.
How to read these prices
“From” and ranges
A “from” price is the starting point for a typical job of that type. A range shows where most homes fall. The top of a range is a guide, not a ceiling: a large house, an extra board or faults found on the day can take a job above it, and we price any of that before doing it.
Adding VAT
All our service prices are shown before VAT, because that is how we quote. To see the total, add 20%. For example, a consumer unit upgrade at £550 + VAT is £660 in total, and a Smart EV charger package at £995 + VAT is £1,194.
How an EICR price is worked out
EICR pricing follows the number of circuits, not bedrooms. A home with 9 circuits on one board is £150 + VAT for the board and first 5 circuits, plus 4 circuits at £15 + VAT each (£60 + VAT): £210 + VAT, or £252 including VAT. What is included in every quote
- A free survey and no call out fee for quoting.
- A fixed written price, usually within one working day of the survey, with VAT shown separately and any extras listed by name.
- No surprises at the end. The figure you agree at the start is the figure you pay at completion. If we find a new fault mid job, we quote it before we touch it.
- Testing and certification to BS 7671:2018+A4:2026, the current edition of the wiring regulations, carried out by our own team led by Steven Watt, with Callum working alongside him.
What makes a job cost more in the North East
Granite and solid stone walls
Much of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire is built in granite. Solid granite has no cavity behind the plaster, so a cable cannot simply be dropped down the wall. It has to be chased in and made good, or run in surface trunking, and both take longer than working in a timber framed or cavity wall house. That is the main reason rewires of older granite properties tend to sit towards the top of our ranges.
The number of circuits and boards
EICRs, consumer unit upgrades and rewires all scale with circuits. Garages, outbuildings and sub boards add to the count.
What we find when the cover comes off

Flats and building warrants
In Scotland a building warrant is not needed to rewire an existing house of up to two storeys, but it is needed for a flat or maisonette, or a building of three storeys or more. The owner who orders the work is responsible for obtaining it, and the council charges a fee. Part P does not apply in Scotland. What landlords should budget for
The Scottish Government’s Repairing Standard guidance (Annex D3) requires private landlords to have an electrical safety inspection, made up of an EICR and PAT testing of any appliances they supply, before a property is first let and then at intervals of no more than five years. It does not have to be repeated at every new tenancy, as long as it was carried out in the five years before the tenancy starts. Any observation coded C1 or C2 must be put right; C3 and FI (further investigation) are advisory, though an FI should still be investigated promptly in a let property. Budget for the EICR every five years, and for remedial work if C1 or C2 items come up.
Is the price the same across the North East?
The guide prices on this page are the ones we quote from across the areas we cover, from our Peterhead base to electricians in Aberdeen and the towns in between. What changes a quote is the job itself: the number of circuits, the wall construction, the cable route and any faults found, rather than the town.

How much is an EICR for a three bedroom house?
Our EICR is £150 + VAT for the main board and first 5 circuits, plus £15 + VAT per extra circuit. A typical three bedroom home comes to up to about £315 + VAT, depending on the circuit count and any extra boards.
